The race of man learns its values, and tests its dreams by the great social experiments to which individuals give their lives.

The fallen always find their reward in the opportunity they had to live more fully, for they have run a greater gamut of emotions and have faced the challenge of great ideas. Man has learned to value life, not for its length, but for the intensity of its experiences, the depth of its understanding, and the purity of its emotions.

We living who remember, know the indebtedness of Americans to these dead, and chastened, devote ourselves to the realization of their hopes. Denied their companionship, we honor them by dedicating ourselves to the attainment of the social ideals for which they expended their lives.

Today we memorialize the Central College men who lost their lives in World War II, instruments in the struggle of our age to find itself. The quality of their lives honors Central College.
