Article from page 1 of the November 16, 1931 Central College Bulletin (N.S. Volume 1): "Civil War shooting at Central is recalled by Dr. H.S. Pritchett." Henry S. Pritchett, son of Carr Waller Pritchett, recounts a Confederate "bushwacker" try to ride up the steps into the college building (now Brannock Hall), and, when he was unable to enter, fired his revolver into the open door.
