OPENING OF SCHOOL.
School opened September 12 with a large attendance.
The old students were glad to get back
to their Alma Mater and we hope that in a few weeks
the new students will love her equally as well. There
was nothing remarkable about the opening of this
school year but since it is true that history repeats
itself, it was like that of former years. The only exception
was that the question of schedule arrangement
seemed solved from the very first and the machinery
of the school was soon in working order.
Within a few days the new girls were initiated into
full membership in the family circle. We are most
fortunate in having a wide awake faculty whose sole
interest seems to lie in the student body and the upbuilding
of our school. With this unified organization
the prospect is very bright indeed for the most
prosperous year in the history of Howard-Payne.

TEACHER'S RECITAL.
The first entertainment given in Classic Hall
this year was a recital by Miss McNamara, the new
oratory teacher, and Miss Wright, the director of the
piano department. The auditorium was well filled
and the hearty applause showed the appreciation of
the audience. Miss McNamara, through her well
chosen selections, displayed her strong personality
and charming manner. Miss Wright played some of
her own compositions, which were indeed works of
art and showed her wonderful talent and rare
musical ability.

The following is the program:
Mon Pierre Anon
Miss MacNamara
Elf Dance Kroeger
March Wind Mac Dowell
The Contrabandista Schumann-Tausig
Miss Wright
The Courage of the Commonplace Mary S. Andrews
Miss MacNamara
Autumn N. Louise Wright
Winter}
Spring (dedicated to Mary Wood Chase)
